Mediation is the intervention into a dispute or negotiation of an acceptable, impartial and neutral third person who has no authoritative-decision-making power, to assist contending parties to voluntarily reach their own mutually acceptable settlement of the issues in dispute.
The use of mediation anticipates that the parties will have a process they can design which will permit each to be free from threats, intimidation or coercion.
